Day 2 of blind quilt challenge

Okay here is day 2 I will post mine later today but thought it would help to post for those who are following along as well

Day Two:.... layer your cloth onto a piece of batting, felt, or similar and machine stitch all over with contrasting or complimentary threads.

(optional - layer some organza on top first, then machine stitch all over 3 layers with rayon thread... then using your burning tool, melt away the spaces of organza between the stitches.)

I belong to a group that started a 5 day challenge and thought I mightjust give it a try...fun fun
day 1 today
create a 9" x 7" fabric for the top of your quilt this must be an altered piece of fabric...you can paint it stain it dye it...applicque it...stamp it...now waiting for day 2 rofl

Well taking bit of time to make some holiday goodies...starting with an old time fav a plastic grocery bag holder...and might even put this one out as an epattern they just make such great gifts not a person in our family without one teehee her skirt is about 32" with elastic bottom...what fun etsy here she comes

Matti has been enjoying cooking more and more...he decided he was making a homemade German chocolate cake for mom's bithday today...wow i'm amazed his first cake ever and from scratch...wohoo and it was sooooooooooo good and it made mom so proud he would so such for her.... and no she wasn't 70 only 67...he was giving her a hard time as always oh my

Well I had a doll group for over 8 yrs but life got so busy i had to close it...well I am back up and ready for a doll group again...it's the time of year i love to share patterns, craft ideas etc...so it's called

Well as I said I was inspired by Martha Chase...so the head is truly just needlesculpted using stockinette...but then of course she got away from me roflmao...soooo her hair and bonnet are paperclay but what fun and something old/new and now to create the body while she dries so that i can paint her...had to do a bit of penciling like susie m showed me to keep me going til I get to paint...awww thanks susie your the best...awww more to come....so come back and check in...i'm on a roll now wohooo

Where has the time gone...

Oh my how this year has flown by...so many things I wanted to do and so many things that did get done and then there are those which didn't...well the retreat went wonderful wohoo and finally Jeff and Matti got us moved from the farm...still a bit of stuff in an out building but the house is empty omg amazing at what one can collect in 15 yrs rofl...okay so what I can collect ekkk...then I got an idea for a new doll/pattern I have always been inspired by Martha Chase...she was one the first woman American entrepreneurs and with a doll imagine that....well I had a small road block as I had a horrid virus that Matti, Chelsea and baby Mollie have all had....ewww but today I feel back to normal and I'm off to creat in my new studio, matti got my tv hooked up yeah hgtv teehee and laptop hooked up and now to settle in and get in the zone...so heads up I'm back up and running and with a the ol zeal wohoooo sure have missed everyone thru these times...oh my

I'm starting to get things in order...Jeff will put wood paneling up on the one wall but I will paint it before it's put up but it's time and I'm not worried about the wall at this point just to be back up and running wohoo

Reno/Iowa retreat oh my

well this was jean bernard and my 4th retreat held for the 2nd year in Iowa...it was wonderful truly...the first year to hold it in the old school which was great...lots of things to iron out but for a first truly we feel successful...we will be back in Iowa next year...dates are sept 9th thru 12th mark that date and join us...jean is working on the prototype doll as I write...I sent my part with her and we are thinking mixed media, cloth, wire and wax wohooo and whatever else we come up with...I do have pictures of the challenge which all the dolls were so amazing...the theme was fall or halloween....we also did a pincushion swap and wow if you can call them pincushions they were so awesome...next year theme is fractured fairytales and we will swap ornaments...i'm also working on my part for cifi convention where jean and i again tag team teach which is so much fun...i finished the head today...seem to have caught a bug of sorts so moving more slowly then normal but i will keep on keeping on rofl
